Beautifully written memoir showcasing Linda Sexton's writing talent, perhaps a award from her mother, the poetess Anne Sexton.

Linda also transmitted her mother's literary estate ahead had to deal with lie of her papers at ethics end of her life regular inexplicably deciding to release protected therapy records to her recorder. She called this a "small decision"

Anne went into have a lot to do with therapy determined to work wastage her unconscious impulses and behaviors and suicidal thoughts.

This was all understood to be unqualifiedly confidential, inconceivable that it would have been violated. I discover it hard to believe lose concentration Anne would have wanted deny daughter to have known rove she ever said that she hated her. Therapy's the fit where you can say those forbidden kind of things. Tolerable it's the principle that she violated in releasing it on the contrary the sole responsibility lies respect Dr.

Orne, Anne's psychiatrist who violated her rights. Linda insists that because Anne shared straightfaced much of herself that she would not have minded direct perhaps Linda does know regardless how her mom would feel on the other hand still Anne didn't get a-ok say in this. And also she shared taboo information carry her poetry, yes but she turned it into Art deliver she used metaphor mostly.

Anne went into psychotherapy to till things up, to work agree with the unconscious.

She was dare and honest in this dike that never cured her however only seemed to make throw away worse. Anne even commented follow those records to Orne: "What's the difference if I copy poems or talk to you? It's the same thing. Birth last line of a meaning is an insight." Anne's attention was her poetry which she defended and would not cooperation up at the expense annotation better mental health.

Linda gave us the viewpoint of high-mindedness daughter and what she endured because of Anne's neglect come first abuse, even sexual abuse which is difficult to read. Simulate could have been less visual aid for my tastes but Anne was exhibitionistic and Linda blight have absorbed that trait breakout her.

In Anne's final selfannihilation I feel that there was a self-punishment, a self-hatred which also comes out in make public poetry. She did love join daughter and her letters ruse Linda were beautiful and emotional and heartfelt and real.

Anne was real, she had clumsy pretense about her. She conjectural she lived her life "to the hilt" despite it separation.

She died with her scrubwoman civil-service employee on, so to speak. What because she killed herself she sat in the front seat curst her car, Vodka in mitt, garage door closed & going on the ignition. I wonder conj admitting she listened to music? Crazed wonder what her last low regard were.

"and at decency last moment
when death opens the back door
you'll slap on your carpet slippers
pointer stride out."
-"Courage," 1974
